The purpose of this study is to disclose ecological consciousness shown from Gong Seon-og's novels. She did not make an intentional plan to write ecological novel, but ecological consciousness formed a natural background due to her autobiographical life. The ecological imagination of novels by Gong Seon-og is shown through the true color of 'maternal affection and 'soil'. 'Maternal affection', which is the key word of her novels, connects with gaia hypothesis of ecology and is identical with Jimosin(means the Goddess of Soil) of agricultural culture. When gala hypothesis is changed through her novels, the generative power and self-cleansing power of soil are shown as motherhood. Her long novels 「The age of thirty(30) left to Ojiri」 and 「Come to millet field」 and short novels 「Mother」 and 「Alibi of my life」 reveal hearty maternal affection through women who know the emotion of soil. Ecological aspect shown from 「Rainy season」 clears the body of woman damaged by civilization. While atomic damage transmits from generation to generation, the birth of woman is shown as infertility. Ecological imagination, which is shown secondly from her novels, is the creation of sisterhood and maternal family. Her novels' heroines, who respect human's life, do not induce abortion although they are in difficult environment. So, the heroines come to have babies whose family name is different. In addition to that, they have motherhood bringing up even babies left by others. Such motherhood leads to a creation of maternal family. And, an act caring friend is shown as sisterhood and the act reveals the relation of community which is ecological world view. Meanwhile, Gong Seon-og's novels have several problems when they are approached in the methodological aspect instead of ecological consciousness. She should solve the method of aesthetic formation leading novel, and should do repeated material and theme too.
