This paper focuses on dialogic nature of Sam-dae(written by Yem
Sang-sub) & Ko-hyang (written by Lee Ki-hyeng). These novels
are classic korean realism novels in 1930's. The former stands
neutral and nationalism. On the again the latter stands socialism.
Sam-dae deals with conflicts between three generations & two
ideologies. Jo Wee-kwan corresponds to first generation. He insists
on Confucianism. He moves tombs of his ancestors to disguise his
ignoble identity, and bought a government post illegally. He even
amender his family tree. Actually he is not nobel. He just assume
nobel by his money.
He insists confucianism to propagandize his family. The Writer
points that korean people earn money not for himself or society but
for his family. Because family is most important to korean
confucian people. Jo Wee-kwan exclude his son, Sang-hoon.

Because Sang-hoon is Christian. He criticize father's confucianism.
And he asserts to use money for society, especially education to get
the national independence.
But he fails on his attempts. He even went to the bad in
morality. Jo Duck-ki is Sang-hoon's son. He thought that his father
fails because of losing two basement. One basement is family, and
another basement is money. Duck-ki respects his grandfather's will,
and succeed his grandfather's property. But he doesn't succeed
confucianism.
He helps socialist and poor men. He uses money not for his
family like his grandfather, but for society like his father. He
doesn't go to bad like his father. He admit other's different thought
and angle. And he endeavor to help men who need his money or
sympathy. Sometimes he criticize himself. But he wouldn't struggle
against imperialism actively. Therefore this novel has negative
dialogic nature.
Kim He-joon is hero of Kohyang. He also criticize himself like
Duck-ki. But he isn't negative. He leads farmer's union, and
struggle against bourgeois to get farmers interest and to defence
farmer's rights. None the less this novel is ruled by author's
ideology, socialism. He-joon has dialogic nature, but another
characters are ruled by particular author's ideology. Therefore this
novel has duplicity.
